What interests you most about the construction industry?
My father is a carpenter in Puerto Rico. When I was little I would watch him working and I always did stuff around the house and in the backyard. I always wanted to work with tools and when I heard about CS [I knew] it was meant to be for me to be a carpenter.
What do you enjoy most about your work?
I enjoy everything about my work. A lot of people told me I wouldn’t work with my tools at first, but I work with my tools everyday. That’s what I enjoy most.
What is it like working on a construction site?
It’s a blessing. You get to learn a lot and work with great people. I learn new skills everyday.
What part of the Construction Skills program made the biggest impression on you?
Construction Skills is different than anything else I’ve ever done. You learn a little something from each instructor; how to dress properly, how to act on a construction site. It’s great!
What advice would you give to anyone interested in Construction Skills?
Go for it because it’s a great learning experience. The program gets you in shape and teaches what to expect before you get into the industry.
